Dolores Dawn Case, age 82 of Temple, went to meet the Lord on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 am at Northside Church of Christ with Darrell Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 - 7 pm. Dolores was born at King's Daughters Hospital in Temple on January 1, 1930, the only child of Emzie Green and Althie Cleo Little Tucker. She attended Temple schools, graduating from Temple High then furthering her education at Abilene Christian University. She received her bachelor's degree in 1951 and began her career as a public educator. She taught elementary, middle, and high school in Temple for 25 years, and during this time attended special education certification courses at Baylor University and Mary Hardin-Baylor. This led her to her true professional calling: working with special needs children. She continued in this field as a special education teacher, vocational employment counselor and, after her retirement from TISD, owned her own vocational placement consulting business. One of her gifts was an ability to connect with young people who needed a helping hand, and she would work tirelessly to give them the tools necessary for success. She was active in a number of civic and social organizations in Temple, having been a Committee Chairman of the Temple Boys Choir and executive secretary of the Cultural Activities Center. She was also a charter member of the Floral Arts Garden Club and member of the Wednesday Club. The group of ladies known as the "Lunch Bunch" gave her much joy. She was a lifelong member of the Northside Church of Christ, teaching bible classes for many years. She dearly loved her church family at Northside. Dolores, or Mimaw as she was known to her grandchildren, married the love of her life, Gordon Case on July 10, 1953 and they spent the next 53 years raising their children and enjoying life together in their home in the Temple Historical District. She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband. She is survived by a son, Dan Case and wife Linda of Little River, daughter Debbie Robbins and husband Kirk of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are grandchildren Krystan Hunt and husband Jared of Temple, Lindsey Case of Little River, Casey Wharton and Hayley Wharton both of Atlanta. Memorials can be made to the Northside Church of Christ Building Fund. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carolyn and Sonja for their love and care and also thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Gardens and Scott & White Hospice. Pallbearers are Wade Sheffield, Ray Davis, Danny Clark, Brad Russell, Jared Hunt, Casey Wharton, Wes Teeters and Leonard Pate.
