David J. (D. J.) Fath, age 79 of Temple, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 surrounded by family at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, February 25th at St. Luke Catholic Church with Rev. John Guzaldo as celebrant. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, February 24th with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
David John Fath was born February 18, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Nick and Rosalie Fath. The Fath Family moved to Texas when he was nine years old. After graduating from Belton High School in 1958, he met and married Ruby Juanita Wagoner. He served in the Air Force for five years and was stationed in Saudi Arabia during this time. After returning home he went to work for American National Insurance for 42 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for ten years. His first wife of 32 years passed in 1988. He married Sandy Elkins on March 30, 1990. While family was everything to him, his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Known to them as Pop.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Ruby. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandy; brother Chuck Fath and wife, Wende of Georgetown; two daughters, Rhonda Rains and husband, Gene of Lake Whitney and Roxanne Davis and husband, Stuart of Austin and two sons, Don Fath and wife, Robyn of Bastrop and Keith Fath and wife, Jacque of Belton, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren all living in Texas. We will miss Pop dearly but grateful to have had him in our lives.
