Memorial services for Bettye C. Baker, 78, of Temple will be held Saturday July 31, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Adrian Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Baker died Sunday July 25, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Baker was born December 7, 1931 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Everett Griffith and Mina D. Drewett Griffith. She graduated from High School and attended Baylor University. She married Dr. R. B. Baker May 3, 1952. He preceded her in death June 7, 2010. She lived in Temple 21 years and was a substitute teacher and was a tour host for Dan Dipert Tours. She moved to Arlington and did volunteer work at Mission Arlington where she worked with the homeless. She moved back to Temple in 2000 and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include one son Mark Baker of Temple; one daughter Belinda Clark of Austin; two sisters Tommye Shackleford of Franklin, Tennessee and Judy Lowe of Arlington; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorials may be made to Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
