Betty Odom

Betty Rose Wood Odom was born on August 7, 1938 in Chriesman, Texas the daughter of Hiram Darr and Inez German Wood. At the age of 12 the family moved to Nolanville and later to Killeen. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1st, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by burial at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. She attended public schools in both cities and graduated from Killeen High School in the Class of 1956. After graduation she attended Mary Hardin Baylor. Betty went to work for the State Department of Public Welfare as an office manager and worked there until 1962 when her oldest child was born. Betty married William Odom on June 6, 1959 in Temple and spent the remainder of her life working as a homemaker and wife in the Temple and Belton areas. Together she and Bill raised two daughters Leslie and Kimberly and later were blessed with two sons-in-law and five grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Bill of Temple, daughters Leslie Anne Scholten and husband John of Temple and Kimberly Inez Connor and husband Mike of Pflugerville, five grandchildren, William David Scholten of College Station, Weston John Scholten of Red Oak, Sarah Rose Connor, Rebekah Grace Connor, and Jonah Michael Connor all of Pflugerville. Betty was raised in a Christian home and brought all of her Christian values with her into her home and shared her love of Christ with her family. In lieu of flowers memorials in Betty’s name to Kindred Hospice would be appreciated
