Betty Louise Mayes

Betty Louise Beechem Mayes, age 93, of San Marcos, formerly of Temple, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Betty was born on March 23, 1930 in Temple, TX to Charles Austin and Beulah Barker Beechem.

Betty attended school in Heidenheimer and graduated from Temple High School in 1947. In 1948 she married Nathan Calvin Mayes and they lived in Temple the rest of their married lives. She worked as a seamstress and in retail sales.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan, her parents, 4 brothers, one sister, and an infant daughter.

Betty is survived by her son, Mike Mayes and wife Kathy of Round Rock, grandson Justin Michael Mayes and his fiancée Brooke Pawelek of Falls City, Tx, granddaughter Keely Mayes Engel and her husband Devin of Stockdale, Tx, grandson Kevin Randall Covington and his wife Ana, and grandson Byron Covington, great-grandchildren Kayce Jo Mayes, Hunter Gage Mayes, Mason Real, Trevor Matthew Engel, Kinsley Ann Engel and Jaelynn Marie Mayes.

A visitation for Betty will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Temple, TX. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Greathouse Cemetery, Temple, TX.
