Betty Jean Hall Pisar passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 17, at Temple First Baptist Church, The Edge, with Rev. Denton Bassett and Dr. Martin Knox officiating. Rev. Gary Anthony will be in charge of the music. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Born in Hamburg, Iowa, on April 7, 1934, Betty was the fourth child of Benjamin Rhodes Hall and Laura Allyce Walker Hall, and grew up on a farm near Farragut, Iowa. She graduated from Farragut High School and was an avid sports competitor, culminating in an all-state selection which included her 40-point per game basketball record. She attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska where she met her future husband, Donald Pisar, to whom she would be married for 55 years. She taught third grade at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska while her husband was in medical school. She later was a proud graduate of UMHB in Belton. Betty embraced her life as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was past president of the Scott & White Volunteers and Medical Auxiliary. She loved music and was proud to be a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and choir. She and her husband have been residents of Temple for the past 46 years. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Dr. Donald E. Pisar, daughters, Carole Chisum and Barbara Pisar-Earnest both of Temple and Susan Tuerck and husband, Randy of Rogers. Her grandchildren include Samantha Borgeson of Salado, Chance Borgeson of Washington D.C., Laura Chisum of Austin, Benjamin, Katherine and Elizabeth Earnest of Temple and Sabrina and Savannah Tuerck of Rogers. Pallbearers will be Chance Borgeson, Benjamin Earnest, Barry Whitehill, Jace Jackson, Dr. Bill Hamilton and Charles Thompson. Memorials may be made to the Temple First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 204 West Calhoun Avenue, Temple, TX 76501 or any charity of your choice.
