Betty Virginia Irby

Betty was born February 19, 1935 to George Washington Haynes and Lillie Annie (Lamb) Haynes in Temple, Texas. She graduated from Temple High School in 1953. Betty married Billy Jack “Coach” Irby October 1, 1960.

Betty held various secretarial jobs before retiring from Temple Jr. College where she was Secretary/Assistant to the President of the College.

Throughout her life she was devoted daughter and wife. She also supported several charities and of course her church.

Betty’s Father and Mother preceded her in death, as well as her brother, Glen Haynes and her husband Billy Irby. There were no children born to the marriage.

Betty’s last day were surrounded by numerous close friends whom she cherished and came to depend on.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, Texas. A private burial will follow at a later date.

Betty, throughout her life, gave to many charities, in lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the benevolent organization of your choice.
