Sherry Kacinka Lopretto, age 73, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022. Sherry was born March 20, 1949 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Irene (Pazey) and Alexander Kacinka.
Sherry was an only child who grew up in Pennsylvania. She met her husband, Sam, at a high school football game. Even though their schools were rivals, they didn’t let that stand in the way. They were married after high school and shortly before her husband was sent to Germany after being drafted to the Army.
After having children, Sherry and her husband followed her father to Florida to raise their son and daughter.
She was a parishioner of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
Sherry was a nurse and an allergist for thirty years. She enjoyed conversing with her patients and catching up with her regulars when they would come in for testing or allergy shots. She would make her patients at ease when performing allergy testing by keeping them engaged telling her about their life experiences.
She loved to paint and stain woodworks created by her husband and spent most of her free time doing some kind of craftwork. They made a habit of attending craft shows whenever they could. Every corner you saw in the house had something made by the two of them.
Sherry loved to cook and bake and could make anything taste delicious. Her recipes were always a hot commodity at work functions. She took interest in gathering recipes from co-workers, friends and learning different recipes from her husband’s Grandmother who taught her to cook by smell.
She took pride in her children’s and grandson’s accomplishments and was so excited when her grandson graduated high school and was beaming when he decided to go to college to earn a degree in the medical field. She was thrilled he was following her path.
She leaves loved ones with numerous memories where she will continue to live on in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Samuel J. Lopretto.
Survivors include her son, Jonathan Lopretto; daughter, Melissa Lopretto and grandson, Sean Lopretto.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at a later date.
