Dax Hankerson, 40, of Tampa, Florida passed away on May 11, 2022. Dax was born in Aurora, Colorado on February 17, 1982. He moved with his parents to Maui, Hawaii in 1987 where he attended Kula Elementary School and Kalama Intermediate School. A gifted athlete, Dax settled on tennis after joining the Wailuku Jr. Tennis Club. Many of his fondest memories were of his days playing with his friends and their families at the Club. Dax moved to Florida to further his tennis career in 1995 where he attended the Palmer Tennis Academy and Saddlebrook Preparatory Academy. He graduated from Saddlebrook in 1999 and then spent three years on the professional tennis circuit. “Retiring” at 22, Dax earned an accounting degree from the University of Phoenix and began working for his father’s CPA firm. Later he worked as a tax specialist with Price Waterhouse Coopers in Tampa. Returning to his roots and his passion, he became a Certified Teaching Professional with the United States Professional Tennis Association and delighted in teaching young and old alike.
Dax is survived by his beautiful eight-year-old daughter McKinley Hankerson of Orange City, Florida, his beloved parents Ken Hankerson of Huntington Beach, California and Christine Hankerson of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and by his best friend Skyler, his German Shephard.
