Martha Louise Doty

Our beloved Aunt Martha passed away peacefully on September 26th in Phoenix, AZ after 98 amazing years on this earth. She was the fourth of five children born to Leroy and Maude Ethyl (England) Shutt in Girard, Illinois and was the last of her generation to pass.

She met and married George Doty in Davenport, Iowa in 1940. They moved to California, where they enjoyed 50+ years at their home in Westchester (Los Angeles), California - working, playing golf, bowling, and traveling the world before George passed away in 2003.

Always gracious, with exquisite style and taste, Martha was a well-liked hair stylist with a loyal following in a salon near Hollywood and Vine for over 20 years . She last attended Covenant Presbyterian Church with her friends in Los Angeles.

Martha moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2013 to be near her nephew, Samuel Shutt, enjoying and celebrating the past six years with his family. She and George are also survived by nieces and nephews in Illinois, Sherrie Bridges and Janice (Shutt) Miller and her family, in Michigan James Shutt and his family, and in Minnesota, Bill Doty and his family.

Martha, you will be fondly remembered for a very, very long time. May God Bless and rejoice with you at your homecoming!
