his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born July 12, 1926 in Youngstown, OH and
was the youngest son of Edward and Amelia (Shank) Ruebsamen.
Jim served in the US Navy in the waning years of WWII. He married in 1952 to Grace
E. Cooksey. They had three sons, James Edward, Dale Thomas (both from the Phoenix
metro area) and Richard Scott of Kennewick, WA. Jim and his family moved from Ohio
to the Phoenix, AZ area in the late 1960’s. Then in 1978 they relocated to Richland,
WA for employment opportunities leaving the oldest two sons in Phoenix. After the
passing of his wife Grace, Jim married his second wife Janet Shannon in 1996.
Jim was an avid square dancer for 70 years. Jim was also actively involved with his
sons in the Boy Scouts of America serving as the Scout Master for Troop 325 and
member of the District Committee.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Amelie (Shank) Ruebsamen;
wife Grace; and brother and sister-in-law William (Bill) G and Patricia Ruebsamen. Jim
Is survived by his sons Ed, Dale and Julie (Lunsford) and Scott and Janet (Stanley); five
Granddaughters; two Grandsons; great grandchildren; and his wife Janet Shannon.
A memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the
National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ. 85024
(the entrance is on E. Pinnacle Peak Road).
In lieu of flowers the family recommends donation to the Callerlab Foundation to the
Preservation of Square Dance or the USO.
