Mildred Jean Smith age 81, born April 24, 1936 and passed away May 22, 2017 at her home. She was saved at an early age at Chittum Chapel Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years James T. Smith; parents, Frank Chittum,Sr. and Lillie Mae Chittum Hettinghouse (Charlie); brothers, William L. Chittum (Katherine), Frank Chittum,Jr. (Barbara); sisters, Ethel Daugherty (Bob) , Nellie Ramsey (Warren); brothers-in-law, Doyle Shockley, John Smith (Eula), H.C. Smith, Tilmon Hence Smith (Nancy), Dester Smith (Jean); sisters-n-law, Versie Bowman (Bill), Vassie Cunningham (Alvie), Roberta Smith.
She is survived by Daughter: Denise Cox (Jerrell)
Sons: Rev. James P. Smith (Pam)
Michael Smith (Tammy) all of Tazewell, TN
Sister: Bennie Mae Shockley
Sisters-in-law: Ely Cook and Sandy Smith
Brother-in-law: Dewey Dean Smith
Grandchildren: Shane Cox (Tassa), Quinton Smith (Dinah), Colby Smith (Jessica), Lauryn Wenger (Kevin), Lana Smith, Charity Smith
Great Grandchildren: Kaylee and Kinley Cox, Chandler Bush, Laci Kate Smith, Hunter Wenger, Blaine Hensley, Lily Wenger, Jaxton Smith and Ella Smith
