Mary Ruth DeBusk Muncy age 87 of Harrogate, TAN passed away Sunday November 23, 2014 at Fort Sanders Hospital. She was born in Claiborne County, Tennessee May 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hester Hill DeBusk and J. Lawrence DeBusk of New Tazewell. She lived most of bother her childhood and adulthood in Claiborne County. She was a recognized expert seamstress and tailor as she was very well known for custom handmade clothing, quilts, and numerous southern Appalachain traditional crafts such as woven baskets, dolls, and Christmas ornaments. As a homemaker she raised one girl and two boys. She worked twelve years at the Claiborne County Hospital. After the death of her husband Hubert in March 1999, she completed his term as Claiborne County Commision. Over-the-years, she was a member of both the Shawanee Baptist Church and the Landmark Baptist Church in the Shawanee Community. In recent years she was a member of Riverview Baptist Church on Powell River. She professed faith in Christ at an early age. Ruth was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and freat grandmother. She dearly loved her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first son David Cogar Muncy, her husband USA Master Sergeant (retired) Hubert Baylor Muncy, a sister Mrs. Ruby DeBusk Muncy of New Tazewell; a brother James DeBusk also of New Tazewell, and one grandson Jack Allen Muncy, Jr., Norris.
Survivors include a daughter: Ms. Mary Ann Muncy Proffitt of Knoxville
A son and daughter-in-law: Jack Allen Muncy, Sr. and Beverly Johnson Muncy of Norris
Five grandchildren: Mona Proffitt Tarver (Michael) and Anna Proffitt Gaenslen (James) of Roane County
Mariah Jaclyn Muncy, Molly Emma Muncy and Jackson Tyler Muncy all of Norris
Three great grandchildren: Jordan Evan Tarver, Arryn McKenzie Tarver, Hunter Nicole Gaenslen and Austyn Gaenslen all of Roane County
Sisters: Mrs. Georgia DeBusk Whitaker of Tazewell, TN and Mrs. Mertie DeBusk Rechichar of Belle Veron, PA
Brothers: Stanley DeBusk of New Tazewell
Frank DeBusk of Murfreesboro

The family will receive friends from 9 until 10 A.M. Friday November 28, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell with funeral service to follow at 10 am Friday morning in the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be Friday November 28, 2014 at 12 noon at the Knoxville National Veterans Cemetery, 939 Tyson Street, Section B-5898. Minister will be Rev. James Shoffner. Singers: Riverview Baptist Church Singers. Pallbearers will be family members.
