Gary Ray 'Goobie' Collins, age 52, of Thorn Hill, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 31, 2021. He was born to Steve Jr. and Dollie Collins on January 15, 1969 in Hancock County. He was saved at an early age at Paw Paw Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He had a wonderful testimony that he spoke of often. He joined the church and was baptized and remained a faithful member until his death. He was ordained as a Deacon of Paw Paw Grove Missionary Baptist Church on January 20, 2018. He served the Lord with his whole heart always. He met the love of his life Shelia Amy at age 17. Married her at age 22 and been together everyday since. They had two children that they loved more than life. Gary loved his family and friends beyond measure and would help them any way he could. Gary was preceded in death by grandparents Steve and Mossy Collins, Tom and Rhoda Cope, his father and mother-in-law Edmond and Hester Eldridge, and family and friends that have gone on to meet their reward that God promised. Gary is survived by his wife of 29 years Shelia Amy Collins, son Jaden Matthew Collins, daughter Shawna LaShae Collins of Thorn Hill, TN. Parents Steve and Dollie Collins of Thorn Hill, TN. Brother Larry Collins of Powder Springs, TN. Sisters Tammie 'Becky' and John Reid of Thorn Hill, TN. and Amy Cook of Tazewell, TN. Several nieces and nephews and a wonderful church family. Many family and friends that will miss him beyond measure. Gary was a wonderful man and a wonderful friend to all.
The family will receive friends Thursday August 5th from 5 until 9 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday August 6th at 10 AM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Collins Family Cemetery.
