Gary V. Brooks ,age 69, of Tazewell TN was born September 3, 1949 and passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2019 with his wife by his side, after a battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of the Little Sycamore community, except for his military service during the Vietnam War. Gary retired from Claiborne Farmer's CO-OP in December of 2018 after working there for 30 years. Gary and the love of his life Debra celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2019. He is preceded in death by his father Rev. Wallace Brooks. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Leon and Inez Lester. Brother-in-law Stephen Lester. Several aunts and uncles.
Gary is survived by his wife Debra Lester Brooks. Daughter and son-in-law Stephanie Heather and Johnny Richardson. Granddaughters Jordan and Samantha Richardson. Mother Gladys Brooks. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donna and Ricky West. Nephews Justin and Andrew West. As well as numerous aunts and cousins. He is also survived by his supportive, loving CO-OP family. Gary leaves behind his two precious cats, who worshipped him, Sydney and Sophie.
The family will receive friends Wednesday July 3rd from 2:30 until 4:30 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in the Cook-Pleasant View Cemetery with military honors.
