Betty Jo Stone

Betty Jo Winstead Stone, age 79 of Tazewell, TN. was born April 17, 1935 and passed away on July 23, 2014 at her home. She was a member of Springdale Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and Choir Director for over 30 years. She worked for the CBM Ministries. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jessie Mae Earl Winstead; husband, Gary Jo Stone; father and mother-in-law, James “Buster” and Bennie Mae (Brooks) Stone. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Karen (Scott) Payne of Tazewell, TN and Sharon (David) Springstead of Bishop, GA; grandchildren, Morgan, Stone and Sydney Payne, Erin, Brenna, Maura, Shannon Springstead; brother, Kenneth (Peggy) Winstead of Morristown, TN; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springdale Baptist Church, C/O Linda Coffey, 183 Y-Rd. Tazewell, TN 37879 or Smoky Mountain Hospice, 412 N. Broad Street, New Tazewell, TN. 37825. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Coffey Funeral Home, New Tazewell, TN. Funeral service will be at 2:00PM Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hatfield and Rev. Parker Epperson officiating. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes before service. Singer will be Barbara Hatfield. Burial to follow in the Irish Memorial Gardens.
