Steve Wayne Hancock was born January 7, 1947, in Paragould, Arkansas. He passed away October 14, 2022, in his home in Taylor, Texas, where he lived for 22 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Ray and Icey Hancock, and 3 siblings Larry Hancock, Donald Hancock, and Joanne Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary, and 3 siblings: Jerry Hancock and wife, Dorothy, of Paragould, AR, Joyce Tyer and husband, Robert, of Lilbert, TX, and Karen Hensley and husband, Kenny, of Nacogdoches, TX. His children: Michelle Robertson and husband, Clint, of Coal Creek, CO, Glenn Hancock and wife, Breanna, of Rusk, TX, and Michael Hancock of Taylor, TX. Step-daughters: Christy Phillips with George Day of Irving, TX, and Jamie Carrington of Hutto, TX. 16 Grandchildren: Cody Robertson and wife, Ashley, and Christian Robertson all of Coal Creek, CO, Decie Hancock, Johnathan Hancock, Joshua Hancock, Delaney Hancock, and Daisy Hancock of Lilbert, TX, Mara Jones, Madilyn Jones, Maegan Jones, Adalee Hancock, and Elijah Hancock of Rusk, TX, Blaine Phillips of Dallas, TX, Amber Valencia and husband, Milton, of Greenville, TX, Taylor Henderson with Cameron Alderetti, and Payton Carrington all of Hutto, TX. 2 Great Grandchildren: Riza and Charles Robertson of Coal Creek, CO. 17 nieces and nephews. Steve was a proud Vietnam Veteran, and he served his country well as a Sergeant of the US Army for 16 years. He received many awards and praise for moral courage and dedication. He retired in 2006 from the Texas Workforce Commission, where he served as a Veteran’s Representative in both Nacogdoches and Port Arthur, TX. He retired as a Specialist in Unemployment Insurance in Austin, TX. His co-workers respected and admired his moral character and knowledge. Steve was an avid motorcyclist and loved to take road trips with his cousins and friends. He also loved to fish along the coast. Though he mostly caught bait stealers, he had a great time being outdoors with his family. Steve was a man of few words, but he loved God, his Country, and especially his Family. He would get a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face as he reminisced about his wife, parents, siblings, children, and all of those grandchildren. All of them knew how much he loved them. He was a very good man who was honest and strong. The world could use more men of his exemplary character and dedication to doing what’s right
