She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Mary Rathke, brothers Wilfred and Marvin Rathke and sister Bernice Rathke Brooks.
Mary is survived by her niece Carolyn Brooks Marshall and nephews John Brooks (Molly), Glenn Brooks (Susan), and Ronald Rathke (Suzy).She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mary was known by friends and family as Tootsie because she loved tootsie rolls as she grew up and the nickname stuck. Once graduating Taylor High School she worked at McCroy's Department Store, Taylor Pharmacy and Raez Grocery. When her parents were in ill health she was their primary caretaker. Mary loved children and taught Sunday School at St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years.
Services are Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11 am at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, with Holly Harris and Glenn Brooks as officiants. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Brooks, Ronald Rathke, Shaun Wells, Steve Harris, Noah Harris, Luke Harris, Nathan Brooks, and Chris Harris.
