Lamar Rudolph Zrubek, age 85, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Lamar was born March 30, 1936, and married Alice Zrubek on November 29, 1958. Lamar and Alice raised three children: Michael, Randy, and Marcie. They also had seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He graduated from Granger High School in 1954, and worked many years at Safeway Rental as Service Manager and master small-engine mechanic. As an inventive problem solver, he could fix almost anything and would come up with creative ways to solve difficult challenges. But his technical skills reached far beyond small engines; he worked on anything else mechanical, including vehicles, and taught his children and many others how to do the same. He also worked awhile in home construction, and built his last home of nearly 50 years. He later went on to full-time farming, but still would work on special projects for people, fixing and helping them with anything he could.
Lamar had plenty of fun in life, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing games such as dominoes, Tarocks, bingo, and slot machines. He would talk to anyone and everyone, with a smile and his always-positive attitude. He made the world a better place for many people.
Lamar was preceded in death by his wife Alice, children Randy Zrubek and Marcie Zrubek, and granddaughters Deborah and Jennifer Kelley. He is survived by son Michael and wife Sherry, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
