Erma Simms

Dee was born in Waukegan, Illinois on July 5, 1939, to Ermal and Jeanette (Thompson) Dickson.

Dee worked at Metro Optics, retired, and then went back to work as a Caregiver for SPJST Assisted Living in Taylor. Dee’s favorite thing was being around her family and friends having a few adult beverages, talking and “cuttin” up. Dee also enjoyed being outdoors in her yard tending to her flowers and plants.

Dee is survived by two sons, Bill McFarland (Michelle) of Greens Fork, Ind. and Don McFarland (Connie) of Indianapolis, Ind. and a daughter, Jenni McFarland-Garcia (Martin) of Taylor, Texas. Nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren.

Dee is preceded in death by her first husband, Don McFarland; two sons, Rick McFarland, and Rod McFarland; second husband Rex Simms, numerous siblings and other family members.

Dee wanted friends and family to gather for a celebration of life, which will be held Saturday November 4, 2023, at the KC Hall in Taylor, TX from 3:00pm to 7:00pm
