He was born October 25, 1923 in Granger, Texas to Joe F. and Louise (Labaj) Blaha. He married Sadie Machu on November 29, 1949 and their marriage lasted 61 wonderful years. They lived in Granger where he was a farmer and worked at the Livestock Auction barn in Georgetown and Taylor. Later they moved to Taylor where he was a self-employed carpenter. He loved gardening, being with family and visiting with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Katherine Blaha and nephew, Greg Machu.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sadie Blaha; son, Daniel F. Blaha, Jr. and wife Katherine; daughter, Patricia (Pat) Raesz and husband Larry; four grandchildren, Melissa Blaha, Kimberly Knippa and husband Daniel, Bradley Raesz all of Taylor, Brandon Raesz and wife Erin of Hutto; great-grandchild, Dayton Knippa whom he called “Big Boy”; brother, Raymond Blaha and wife Betty of Jerrell;
Brother-in-law, Darwin Machu and wife Nancy; four nieces, Pam Bartek and husband Mark, Cheryl Ardh, Rhonda Roten and husband Bobby, Dawn Pehl; five, great-neices, Dawn Phel, Megan and Mackenzie Roten and Paige and Taylor Bartek; and great-nephew, Colton Machu.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 6—8 pm at Condra Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will start a 7PM.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 14, at 10 am at Taylor Brethren Church with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Burial will follow in Granger Brethren Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Brandon Raesz, Bradley Raesz, Daniel Knippa, also serving will be Mark Bartek, Herbert Raesz, and Kenneth Jezisek
Memorial may be given to Taylor Brethren Church or charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Condra Funeral Home.
