Calvin Holman, age 82, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, in Taylor, TX. Calvin was a lifelong resident of Taylor. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1949 and truly enjoyed many years of class reunions with his school friends. He owned and operated H&M Apiaries in Hutto, Tx with his friend and partner Curtis Meier, and retired from the State of Texas where he worked as a senior purchaser for the State Purchasing and General Services Department. After retirement, Calvin enjoyed traveling and hunting with friends and family and sharing breakfast tacos with his dog Chauncy.
He was preceded in death by his parents F.E. (Fritz) and Alma Lee (Joiner) Holman; wife, Margie Lou (Ripper) Holman; his daughter, Lacy (Holman) Zycha; and his brother Fred Holman.
He is survived by his sons, Lee Holman and wife Lou Ann of Friendswood, TX and Laine Holman and wife Christi of Taylor, TX; his grandchildren, Jared Holman and wife Ericka, Kyle Zycha and wife Hilary, Brent Holman, Clayton Holman, and Gail Holman; his great grandchildren, Allyson Zycha and Gavin Holman; and his special friend, Carol Holub of Cedar Park, TX.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014, from 6pm-8pm at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 10 am at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor with Pastor Stan Simonik officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Kyle Zycha, Brent Holman, Clayton Holman, Jared Holman, Timothy Crabb, and Bob Ripper. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Meier, Donald Brieger, and K.R. Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Taylor, TX, Taylor Animal Shelter, or the charity of your choice.
