With heavy hearts, the Weldon family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved patriarch, William H. Weldon, on November 10, 2023, at the age of 91. Born on February 10, 1932 in Mondamin, Iowa, to Caroline Proebsting Weldon and Mark Weldon, Sr.
In 1957, Bill entered into a lifelong commitment with Marilyn Weldon and together they navigated 45 years of marriage until her passing in 2002. He is survived by his son, Robert Weldon (Leigh Ann Weldon), and daughter, Ann Weldon, as well as cherished grandchildren: Scott Weldon (Kahlyn Weldon), Ashley Weldon, Aaron Boyle, Jordan Boyle, and great-granddaughters Lily Anne Weldon and Charlotte Grace Porter as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill's life was a tapestry woven with threads of service and achievement. A veteran of the Navy, he bravely served during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Medal for his dedication. His academic pursuits led him to the University of Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Post-graduation, he became a certified public accountant and embarked on a successful career with Price Waterhouse in Chicago. In 1965, he made the pivotal decision to transfer to Tampa where he continued to dedicate himself to his clients, notably Jim Walter, until his retirement at the age of 64.
Beyond the professional realm, Bill was an avid golfer, a passionate traveler, and a sports enthusiast with a particular fondness for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tampa Bay Lightning. His love for life and family was evident in every aspect of his being. Bill's journey was one marked by love, dedication, and service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mark Weldon Sr., Caroline Proebsting Weldon, his brother, Mark Weldon Jr. and his sister, Carolyn Jean Nippert.
In lieu of traditional services, the immediate family will gather to celebrate Bill’s life, honoring the memories and the legacy he leaves behind.
