On Tuesday, November 22, William “Bill” F. Vogel, a beloved husband, unexpectedly passed away. He was 66. Born to Constance and Ervin “Paul” Vogel, Bill pitched for and graduated from University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He sold financial systems software to CFOs of Fortune 500 companies for over 30 years for various companies. Bill recently found his true calling in life and became a certified health and longevity coach after losing more than 70 lbs. and beating cancer. He helped his clients, including his mother-in-law lose significant weight and increase energy while eating whole foods and adding movement to their week.
Bill was active in his church as a lector, pre-marriage advisor and Eucharistic minister. He also served on the Board of Sounding Joy, which buys hearing aids for children whose families cannot afford them.
Bill became a fan of girl’s volleyball as he watched his daughter compete in two state championships for Plant High School and club tournaments all over the US. He enjoyed staying fit and was always adding new tools to his regimen including 100 lb. dumbbells, a 50 lb. weight vest and a 20 lb. sledgehammer. He was a foodie and enjoyed walking to restaurants in downtown St. Pete with his wife and friends followed by listening to live music at Doc Fords while looking at the water on the St. Pete Pier. Locals knew him as the “tall guy” with three little white dogs: Toby, Murphy and Merlin. His favorite staycation spot was Indian Shores where he loved watching sunsets with skimmers collecting their food along the shore.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christy, bonus daughter, Lexie Atlas, sons Ryan and Alex and daughter Kathryn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to www.SoundingJoy.org
