William Edward Dye (78) departed this life on October 13, 2021 in Tampa, FL. Bill was born in Savannah, GA on March 23, 1943 to Thomas Vinson, Sr and Ray-monde Virginia Wilson Dye. He graduated from Savannah High School and went on to attend Armstrong State and Georgia State College. While living in Atlanta, Bill began his long time career in the Office Equipment industry, eventually owning his own company in Tampa. After retirement, he worked in the import tile business and volunteered at his church.
Bill’s faith was an integral part of his life. He was confirmed at Christ Church, Savannah as a young teenager and went on to teach Sunday School. Once Tampa became his home, he attended St Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where he served as Senior Warden and Junior Warden on the Vestry, taught Sunday School to Junior and Senior High Students and helped get the EYC (Youth Group) going again, planning trips to NC and camping trips around Tampa.
Bill was always interested in sports, either as a participant or spectator. He loved the game of football, becoming a referee for the Pop Warner league in both Atlanta and Savannah. Skiing, hunting, fishing, boating, and golfing were other sports he participated in and taught his boys well.
Bill was a long time member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla where he was a Gunner, an activity that he truly loved along with the good friends he made. The Tampa Yacht and Country Club was enjoyed by him, his sons, and the grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lindell. Of all Bill’s accomplishments in life, he was most proud of his children and grandchildren: Sons, Thomas III (Holly), Stephen, William (Sue).
