He is survived by his sister Ida Mae Moat, 94, of East Troy, Wisconsin, his son Carl Benjamin (Ben) Mitchell and his wife, Nancy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a host of nieces and nephews and their families. He is deeply missed by all of them.

He is interred in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Florida, next to his wife, sons, and mother-in-law, Pearl Reddick Newman.
