Vincent Robert Ahern, of Tampa FL, passed away in the evening of July 27 at the age of 76. He was at peace. He is loved and missed by his family, wife of 42 years Alexa Favata, his son and daughter in law, Casey and Shayla Ahern, son and daughter in law Drew and Alexandra Ahern, grandson Liam and granddaughter Ireland (Casey), and granddaughter Shanley and grandson Owen (Drew), as well as his sisters Mary Louise Ahern and Patricia Pecore, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a passionate artist and spent his career as the at the University of South Florida, conclusively as Director of Public Art where he led the University to a top 10 Public Art Ranking in the country, among university-based public art programs. He also co-founded the Florida Association of Public Art Professionals, which is dedicated to the development, advocacy, promotion and education of the public art field in the State of Florida and was its first President. He was devoted to his family and spent his free time with them, loving to teach, talk, play and debate with his children and grandchildren. He was a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and being originally from Manchester, New Hampshire, also the Boston Red Sox and Celtics. But he was the biggest fan of his beloved children and grandchildren. He was the Most Grandfather and will be deeply missed.
