Conforti, Victor Richard (Rich) 80, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, the son Victor Joseph (VJ) and Julette Conforti.
Rich started his career in the Natural Gas Industry as a Meter Reader at Brooklyn Union Gas Company in Brooklyn, NY. Though he had a very young family to support he went to night school for many years to get his degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. Rich quickly began climbing up the career ladder in the Natural Gas Industry. He then went on to graduate from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston, Massachusetts. Rich went on to become Vice President of Consolidated Edison of New York which he retired from in early 2001.
One of Rich’s great joys in his career was to recognize talent and mentor the people that worked with him. He believed a rising tide raises all ships. And nothing made him happier than to see people grow personally and professionally. In retirement Rich and his wife Elaine moved to Tampa Palms in Tampa, Florida. They had many happy years in their new community. They fully enjoyed their new friends and had many Happy Memories at Tampa Palms Country Club. However, Rich’s greatest joy in retirement was spending time in his pool with his grandchildren all around him. He loved having family come to visit. Rich was the Patriarch of an adoring family. He will missed, he will be remembered forever.
Rich married the love of his life Elaine on February 28, 1959. They had just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. In addition to his wife Elaine he survived by his daughter Deborah (John) Daly and their children Tiffany Vessio, John, Michael, and Allison Daly.
His Daughter Lauren (Mark) LaMantia and their children Alexandra, Samuel, and Gabrielle Cote, Philip and Anthony LaMantia. His son Richard (Kathy) Conforti and their children Richard, Joseph, Anthony, and Thomas Conforti. His son Christopher (Kristy) Conforti and their children James, Hunter and Sadie Conforti. He is also survived by his beloved sister June Schinnagel and many extended family and friends whom also have Many fun and happy memories that will forever be part of Rich’s life.
Rich was preceded in death by his father Victor Joseph Conforti and his Mother Julette Conforti. His baby daughter Alison Juliet Conforti. His sister Margie McKenna. His brother Jack Conforti. And beloved son in law Mark LaMantia.
The Conforti family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff, nurses, and physicians at the AdventHealth Tampa Hospital Progressive Care and Neuro ICU.
A Funeral Service celebrating Rich’s life will take place on Thursday, December 12. At 10am at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9724 Cross Creek Boulevard, Tampa, Florida 33647 with Father Richard Jankowski officiating.
