STEWART, Tom G., age 86, of Tampa, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born November 3, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL the son of Alma (Fore) and John Berry Stewart. He was reared and completed his education there and graduated with the senior class of Landon High School (1947). He continued his education at The University of Florida earning his BA degree in Business Administration. He then enlisted in the United State Army and was selected for Officers Candidate School and graduated as a commissioned officer. During this time He was issued a letter of Commendation by Major General R. L. Dulaney for the courageous action in rescuing Sargent Brincefield, without regard to his own personal safety. After receiving his Honorable discharge he relocated his family to Tampa, Fl. where he established himself as an Independent Insurance agent starting and operating The Stewart Insurance Agency until his retirement at the age of 62. He enjoyed his retirement years living and playing many rounds of tennis with his long term neighbors at the Tampa Racquet Club. He always had a passion for following his Florida Gators and was always seen wearing some orange and blue. He was a loving father and Grandfather and will be missed for his Wit and love of life. Survivors include his partner of 17 years, Jacklin Dugan; two sons, Tom G. Stewart, Jr. and wife, Karin, and Michael Stewart and wife, Candice; daughter, Charlotte La Rocca; sister, Frances Scarboro and husband, John; and nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Jessica, Amanda, Michael, Paula, Erin, Kim, Laura and Meagan. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL at a later date.
