Thomas Joseph Chirillo, a loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 16th, 2024, at the age of 64. Thomas, affectionately known as "Tommy," was born on March 2nd, 1960, to Marie and Joseph Chirillo in Malverne, NY. He was the beloved brother of Joseph and John Chirillo and cherished his "baby sister" Linda Kraus.
Tommy's generous spirit was evident from a young age. As a child, he delighted in bringing his younger siblings together to celebrate birthdays, always ensuring they had thoughtful gifts. At 16, he surprised his brother John with a ten-speed bicycle and spent Saturday's bonding over lunch and motorcycle window shopping. Tommy's partnership with his brother Joey extended beyond childhood. Together, they purchased their first home, and he always knew he could trust Joey to be the responsible one of the two. Linda was not only his confidante but also his partner in crime. They shared heartfelt conversations about family and plans for the future during their weekly phone calls.
At 18, Tommy met the love of his life, Christine Chirillo, affectionately known as Chrissy. They married on April 19th, 1980, and shared 44 beautiful years together. Their union blessed them with a daughter, Nicole Chirillo. The family extended to include nieces and nephews Melissa Chirillo, Jessica Kraus, and Kenny Kraus. Tommy embraced Chrissy's family as his own, gaining three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tommy was a dedicated and hardworking individual, starting with a paper route at nine years old and continuing his work ethic throughout his 42-year career at J.P. Morgan Chase. Specializing in cybersecurity and IT, he was renowned for his expertise and unwavering dedication. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tommy valued the relationships he built with colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends.
In his free time, Tommy pursued his passion for motorcycles, cars, and firearms. He got his TIG welding license, considering a career change. In truth, it was simply an opportunity to indulge in the activities he loved most in life. He often spent hours in his garage, reveling in his hobbies. Since relocating to Tampa, FL, Tommy enjoyed regular trips to the gun range with Chrissy and Nicole, always eager to share his expertise with family and friends.
An avid dog lover, Tommy's greatest joy was his German Shepherds. Over the years, he cherished the companionship of Czar, Megan, Nala, Cody, Kayla, and his beloved Gemma, who remained faithfully by his side during his illness.
Family was at the core of his being. He took great joy in bringing everyone together, particularly for the cherished tradition of Sunday dinners at his mother's home, where his vibrant presence would fill the room with warmth and laughter. His infectious laughter and timeless stories were a source of delight for all. Even the most familiar tales remained a joy to hear, a testament to his enduring spirit and the love he shared with his family. Even during his battle with cancer, Tommy's primary concern was always for his family and friends. He faced each day with a smile, embodying his selfless and caring nature. While he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved him.
