Ted was born in Oneonta, NY on November 29, 1942 to Elizabeth Townsend and Theodore H. Mastro. After losing his father to a tragic accident when he was two years old, Ted was raised by his mother and adoptive father, William L. Millard in Poestenkill, NY.
Ted enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1961, where he served as a Veterinary Technician and Food Service Supervisor. He retired in Tampa at MacDill Air Force Base in 1981.
Ted had a love for sports, growing up an avid New York Yankees fan and taking on his new hometown team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He enjoyed attending games and worked as a Sports Official, officiating local baseball, football, and basketball games with the West Coast Umpire’s Association.
Ted’s other great love was music. He grew up playing the trumpet, sang in church choirs, and enjoyed singing Karaoke with his friends and family.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his loving brother, Timothy. He is survived by his significant other, Shirley Counceller, his sons Theodore II (Ginger), Scott (Brandy), Shawn (Robin), and Billy (Meghan), his grandchildren Ashley, Dylan, TJ, Aleena, Ariel, William, Faith, Matthew, Samantha, Aurora, and Nicholas, great-grandchildren Casdyn, Brody, Ensleigh, and Elizabelle, as well as several nieces and nephews
A viewing will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home - MacDill, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609, Friday, December 18th from 5p.m. - 7p.m. A service celebrating Ted’s life will be help at Zephyr Christian Church, 5940 Dogwood Street, Zephryhills, FL 33542, Saturday, December 19th at 1 p.m., followed by a private burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of Blount and Curry Funeral Home.
