JOHNSON, Sherman Lee, 56, of Tampa passed away on November 26, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Brenda; his devoted children, Sherman Lee Johnson Jr., Brandon Tre’ Johnson, and Kiara Sheri’ Johnson; mother, Laura, father, Albert (deceased), sisters, Darlene Williams (Ron), Laureen Lewis (James), Dorothy Yvonne Moye (Michael), brother Hildreth Johnson; mother in law, Letha, sisters in law, Mattie (Bobby), Grenda, brother in law, Kent and many other extended family members and close friends. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Born and raised in Kinston, N.C.; Sherman and Brenda came to the Tampa Bay area in 1985. Sherman was a civil engineer who worked for several firms with which he worked on major projects such as US 19 at Ulmerton Road (Greiner), Tampa Airport (Greiner), US 19 at SR580/Countryside (Greiner), John’s Pass Bridge (Greiner), Hillsborough Ave. Hillsborough River Bridge (Greiner), I-275 at Big Island Gap (URS), Airport Interchange (URS), I-4/Crosstown Connector (Johnson-Adams), Ulmerton Road (HDR), Crosstown Expressway Gandy Extension (Lochner). Sherman was a dedicated coach of both baseball and softball for 20 years. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, watching sports and spending time with family and friends. The family will receive friends from 12-5pm on Saturday, December 2 at the Blount & Curry, Oldsmar/West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr., Tampa. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, December 4 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell where he will be laid to rest.
