Scott Reid Cochrane, age 61, of Lutz, Florida, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on October 21, 1958, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late William Newton “Boots” Cochrane and Helen Kelly Cochrane.
Scott attended West Charlotte High School (class of ‘77), was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity at Appalachian State University and completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina- Charlotte. He was a brilliant mind and incredible salesman, which served him well during his long tenures with Baker Equipment and Badger Meter. He eventually co-owned a utility distributorship in Odessa, Florida with long time colleague and friend, Steve Portlance.
Scott was incredibly active. He was an avid golfer- ideally playing on days that ends in “Y” with his wonderful Cheval Country Club family. He also enjoyed adventurous activities like scuba diving, riding motorcycles and conquering 5Ks. He was happiest visiting his children and relatives in NC and soaking up the fresh mountain air. He spent his final years on this side of heaven tackling bucket list trips, concerts and experiences with Allison and Graham, and of course, his beloved wife, Kathee.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Newton Cochrane and brother, Steve Newton Cochrane.
Scott is survived by his wife Kathee Irene Cochrane of Lutz; children Allison Banks Cochrane of Huntersville, NC, and Graham Reid Cochrane of Lexington, NC; mother, Helen Kelly Cochrane of Charlotte, NC, and sister, Stephanie Cochrane Smith of Linville, NC along with many extended relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 9th at Blount and Curry’s Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. Family will receive friends beginning at 1pm with service to follow at 2pm.
There will be an additional memorial service held on the afternoon of Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Back Creek Church in Charlotte, NC. Additional details for this service to follow.
The family would like to extend the most sincerest of thanks to all those whose prayers and well wishes ultimately gave this husband, father and warrior the strength and willpower to push through the countless rounds of rigorous chemotherapy, radiation, major surgeries and all of the lifestyle adjustments and complications in between. The entire family has been blessed with unwavering support and love from the community. Scott was an amazing human being and will be so very missed.
