Sara "Anne" Stanley, 91, passed away peacefully at home late Saturday night, February 13, 2021 from natural causes. She was born May 30, 1929 in Duluth GA to William Robert Jones and Winnie Mae Poole Jones and she was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Charley, and also by all of her siblings: Lucille Wray (Buford) of Tallahassee FL, Virginia Dare Smith of Winter Haven FL, James Guilford “Gill” Jones of Winter Haven FL, Kay Fontaine (Bert) of St. Petersburg FL, Margaret Milz (Elmer) of Houston TX, and Jenna McAlpin (Bob) of Venice FL. Anne is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Gibbs (Tim, deceased/Geno Ploeckelmann) and Patti DiOssi (Mark), who still reside in Tampa. She has 4 grandchildren: Larry Wiezycki (Kim), Kelly Purcell (Adam), Steven DiOssi (Stephanie) and Kevin DiOssi (Brittany) and one step-grandchild, Jamie Gibbs (Jim Marsh). Anne “GG” has 4 great-grandchildren: Adam Wiezycki, Luke Wiezycki, Ben Purcell, and Greyson Purcell, all of Tampa. Anne also has seventeen nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and great nephews. Anne’s family moved to Winter Haven FL when she was seven years old. She graduated from Winter Haven High School, where she was Homecoming Queen her senior year. She went on to complete a 4-year Nursing Program at St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Jacksonville FL, where she received her RN degree in 1950. She worked in a private doctor’s office in Winter Haven FL before she met her husband, Charley. They were married in 1953 and moved to Tampa FL where she and Charley joined Palma Ceia United Methodist Church and had their two daughters. Anne worked as a head surgical nurse for a Tampa Otolaryngologist for over 30 years. After retiring to travel with husband Charley, Anne missed the patient care so she worked in Endoscopy at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 9 years until retiring for good in December of 1993. Anne loved to travel, garden and spend time with her family and many friends. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake cakes. Anne was a very generous and loving person. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was an exemplary example as to how to live a Christian life. Before services, a private family interment will be held at Garden of Memories. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, March 27th at 1:00pm at Blount & Curry FH - MacDill Chapel. A reception with family and friends will be immediately following from 2:00-4:00pm, also at Curry’s MacDill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Breast Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
