Sally Joan Krusen McCarty, age 81, of Charlotte, NC (formerly Tampa, FL) passed away July 30, 2021. She was born April 3, 1940, in Wellsville, New York and moved to Central Florida as teenager. Sally graduated from Zephyrhills High School and Jones Business College. She worked briefly for the phone industry before transitioning into medicine, where in an administrative role, she supported several Primary and Surgical offices in the Tampa community.
She was gifted musically as both a vocalist and instrumentalist, lettering in clarinet and lending her voice to her church choir for many years. Her many hobbies included bowling, camping, crocheting, fishing, reading and all things Hallmark. She had a deep and abiding love for the mountains of Western North Carolina, but most of all she loved her family and friends and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sally is predeceased by her husband, Denny Ray McCarty. She is survived by two sons, Denny (Janelle) of Mason, OH; Greg of Lutz, FL; and two daughters, Dianna and Christie of Charlotte, NC. Her legacy includes seven grandchildren: Megan (Nate), Kayleigh, Brielle (Bob), Shannon (Aaron), Cole, Michael, and Lexie; and three great grandchildren: Brayden, Ellie, and Wesley. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, with Pastor Jody McKewen officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa. While we mourn her passing, we honor her memory and celebrate the life she lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sally's memory to the Humane Society Tampa Bay (https://humanesocietytampa.org/) or Friends of the Smokies (https://friendsofthesmokies.org/).
