Rose T. Hurley, 98 years old of Tampa, Florida, passed away on April 8, 2025, from pneumonia at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Rose was born in Chula, Virginia, a little town about 40 miles west of Richmond, on December 11, 1926. Rose was the daughter of John and Josephine Terry, and sister to eight siblings. Rose was married to Senior Master Sergeant, Edward Joseph Hurley, with whom she had nine children. After her divorce, Rose attended the University of New Hampshire where she completed her LPN studies. She then relocated her children to Tampa Florida.
Rose worked for the Tampa General Hospital Clinic for 20 years before retiring.
Rose was very active in the Catholic Church teaching catechism, and volunteering. She was also active in the Franciscan Order dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting social justice.
Rose is preceded in death by her children Richard, Patrick, Timothy, Anthony, and Theresa, as well as two daughters in law, Susan and Carmela.
Rose is survived by her children Edward (Michele), Michael, Robert (Lynn) and Christopher. She is also survived by her brothers Paul Terry and Johnny Terry, her sister, Marie Brickhouse, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
