Fox, Rose C., age 92, of Tampa passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of Tampa. Survivors include her devoted children, Mary Anne Fox Obusek (Joe), Fred J. Fox, Jr. (Dolly), Bob Fox (Liana), Tom Fox and Pam Fox Escobar (Rick); all of Tampa; nine grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers: Joseph B. Obusek, Jr. (Jackie), Cary, NC, Michelle O. Broadway (Olin), Atlanta, Stephen R. Fox, San Francisco, Justen R. Fox, Tampa, Fred J. Fox, III, Washington DC, Ashly Fox (Tom), San Clemente, Christina Escobar, Gainesville, Ricky Escobar, Tampa, and Madison Fox, Tampa; five great-grandchildren; her sisters Winnie Gerbec, Tampa, and Kathleen Smith, Homassa; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
With her husband of 63 years, Fred, she co-founded Fox Dental Laboratory in 1956. Together they built a successful family business and worked side by side until her retirement. All the while, she was a devoted mother and homemaker.
Rose had many pastimes in her long life. She loved sports and played for a state basketball championship while in high school. She won awards for her china painting and gardening, and loved the outdoors especially boating and fishing.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Xavier Prida, Dr. J. Clayton Pruitt, Dr. David Wright, the caring staff at St. Joseph’s CSU, and the staff at University Village.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jesuit High School or Pregnancy Crisis Center of Catholic Charities. The family will receive friends Sun., March 20, 2011 5 pm to 7 pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass led by Monsignor Higgins will take place at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Mon., March 21, 2011 at 11 am with burial at Garden of Memories.
