Rosalie Cacciatore "Lily," McDaniel passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the age of 90. She was born and raised in Tampa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Filippo and Antonina Cacciatore, and her devoted husband of 45 years, Dallas M. McDaniel. She is survived by her daughters, Rosalie (Michael) Loredo, Cynthia McDaniel and Karen McDaniel (Donna Gardner); sisters, Pauline Palmeri and Mary Spoto; brothers, Angelo (Pat) Cacciatore and Phillip (Noreen) Cacciatore; grandchildren, Natalie (Gerald) Davison and Stephanie (Buddy) Pratt; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Marissa and Madison; and several loving nieces and nephews. Rosalie graduated with honors from the University of Tampa with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was very proud to be a teacher of thousands of students at George Washington Junior High School for 40 years, teaching history and civics. She was a charter member of Pan American University Women's organization; a member of the Retired Teachers' Association; and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Rosalie's greatest loves were her family, teaching and cooking. She passed down her Italian recipes in her cookbook, "Rosalia's Favorite Recipes", a gift made possible by her sister-in-law, Pat. The family gives a special thank you to her devoted caretaker of eight years, Julie Alvarez; also the dog, Rusty, her companion. Pallbearers will be Phillip Cacciatore, Angelo Cacciatore, Michael Loredo, Buddy Pratt, Gerald Davison, Nelson Spoto and Vincent Spoto. Honorary pallbearers are George Cannella, Steve Spoto, Nelson Spoto, Ron Palmeri, Steven Palmeri, David Cacciatore, Andy Cannons, and Danny Del Rosal. The family will receive friends 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, and funeral services will take place at noon Wednesday, October 12, both at Gonzalez Funeral Home, with a procession to Garden of Memories Cemetery following.
