Rodney Harold Dann, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022 in Tampa, Florida at the age of 87. Rodney is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Shannon Prince Dann of Tampa, Florida, his granddaughter Sarah Prince Dann, and grandson Thomas Dann as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Harold Dann, Sr., his mother, Ruby Moore Dann, and his wife of 52 years; Stephanie Worrilow Dann, whom he married on July 3, 1964.
Rodney was born on December 23, 1934 in Bristol, Pennsylvania and grew up in Newark, DE. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Civil Engineering. He later served as an engineering officer in the U.S. Navy. After working as a tugboat captain for his parents, Rodney started his own tugboat company, Dann Ocean Towing, Inc., with his brother, Robert Dann, in 1967. Rodney moved to Tampa in 1977.
Rodney enjoyed collecting Marine Art, boating, his parrot, Sam, and eating at Mel’s Hotdogs in Tampa. A Celebration of Life is being held on Friday, May 13th from 12 - 2 p.m. at Dann Ocean Towing on 3670 South Westshore Boulevard. Additional parking is across the street at Trattoria Pasquale 3671 South Westshore Boulevard.
