Robert Steven Scarborough, affectionately known as “Buck” by his family and friends, passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 55, following complications with heart disease. A devoted and loving son, Robert traveled from Orlando to Tampa each week to care for his aging father. Robert passed away peacefully in his sleep on Christmas morning at his father’s home.
Robert was born on January 21, 1967, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Phuoc Scarborough and Richard Scarborough. His family lived in many places during his childhood, including Vietnam, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi, before settling in Tampa, Florida, when Robert was a teenager.
Robert graduated from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Robert also attended Kemper Private Military School & College, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Military Science. Following Kemper, he joined the Army Reserves as an Officer and served as a Lieutenant in the Military Police. Robert joined Taylor Corporation in 1998 as a Network Administrator and has worked there for the last 23 years in IT and MIS administration roles.
Robert was beyond compare for his generosity, devotion, and love for his family and friends. Not a day went by without Buck volunteering his time, home, or even the last dollar in his wallet for the people he cared about and loved. Buck also loved animals - often taking in stray and distressed dogs and cats that needed help.
He was well-read and loved to talk about the policies, people, and humorous side of American politics. He also enjoyed science fiction films, ancient history, and world religions. His knowledge and ability to point out anachronisms were impressive.
Robert was preceded by Phuoc Scarborough and survived by his father, Richard Scarborough, and sister, Nancy Duckett, his brother-in-law, Joe Duckett, and his niece and nephew, Madison Duckett and Jackson Duckett. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his family.
A Memorial Service for Robert will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, Florida 33618, from 3:00pm - 3:30 pm, followed by a Catered Reception at 3:30pm.
