Skip leaves behind his daughter, Jenifer Goolsby; son-in-law, Kevin Goolsby, and three grandchildren who truly were the apple of his eye: James, Savana and Juliana Goolsby. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Roy & Sallie Julian; brothers, Albert and Richard Julian and loving wife, Carol.
Skip never met a stranger and never shied away from sharing the Gospel message any chance he had. He was a member of the Cork church of Christ in Plant City since 1996.
A native of Tampa and a graduate of Hillsborough High School in 1956, Skip worked for the Tampa Tribune for 41 years before retiring in 1997. He was called to serve in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS from 1960 – 1962. While in the Army, he was awarded the medal of Expert Rifleman and trained many of the young soldiers who fought for our country in the Vietnam War.
Skip was a natural athlete, playing both baseball and basketball as a young man. He also found the love of golf, winning many championship golf tournaments through the years. He loved watching Tampa Bay Rays and St. Louis Cardinal baseball games.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical staff at James A. Haley, VA hospital for their exemplary work and compassionate care during his six week stay.
