age 86, a lifelong Tampa resident passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Bob attended the University of Florida and graduated from Florida State University where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After college, he served as Cadre in the United States Army 101st Airborne Infantry Training Regime and in the Military Police during the Korean Conflict. After the military, he became Vice President of the Tampa Federal Savings and Loan Association. A few years later he would move to Lakeland to become President and Chairman of the Lakeland Federal Savings and Loan Association. After returning to Tampa, he continued to work in the banking and mortgage banking business. Bob was also involved in community and religious organizations. He was Chairman of the Polk County Heart Fund; a director of the Children’s Home, Inc.; Vice Chairman of the Family Services Association of Tampa; and a member of the Board of Fellows for the University of Tampa. He was also past president of the Exchange Club of Tampa; past secretary, director and an Emeritus member of the Merrymakers Club; president of the Tampa Council of the Navy League; a 50-year member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla; a member of the Tampa Yacht and County Club; the Hillsborough Lodge F&AM; the Scottish Rite; and the Egypt Temple Shrine. He was a former member of the Lone Palm Golf Club, the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club and the University Club. Bob was a member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Leader, a Trustee and sang in the choir. He also attended Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir. More important to Bob than his business and civic pursuits was his love of others. He enjoyed meeting and being with people. His quick wit and warm smile earned him the nickname “Friendly Bob”. He was predeceased by his wife, Sara Adams, his brother, Albert L. Adams, Jr. and his sister, Vivian Adams Walls and is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Ennis (Hank) and his granddaughters, Sara Katherine and Margo Ennis in addition to several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt Street, Tampa, with the Rev. Vicki Walker officiating. A private family interment was held at Myrtle Hill Cemetery on Sunday, May 1, 2016. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
