NELSON, Richard Bruce, 79, of Tampa, FL, passed away January 23, 2017. He was born in Gowanda, NY on October 4 and moved to Florida after his service in the US Air Force. He worked for the Tampa Police Department for over 23 years spending most of his career as a Flight Officer. He also worked for the US Marshals Service as a CSO in the Federal Courthouse for 14 years until his retirement. He has a loving family which includes his wife of 48 years, Grace Corrales Nelson; children, Kelly & Matt Macdonald and Richard & Natalie Nelson; grandsons, Richard & Adam Nelson; and his beloved Italian Greyhound, Q-Tip. He had four sisters, Linda (Tom Albañez), Laurie (Terry Howell), Lois (Mike Benitez) and Lugene (Mike Cygan); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Bruce & Jan Nelson and Mary Alice Brown; and his in-laws, Arturo & Graciela Corrales. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM, Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel. Fr. John Kaack will be officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests beginning at 2 PM at the home of his son.
