Richard “Dick” Spencer Moseley passed away on November 4th in Tampa, Florida after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 4th 1941 in Paxton, Illinois to Brigadier General Lawson S. Moseley and Elizabeth A. Moseley. Dick was pre-deceased by both parents and sister Elizabeth “Bets” Moseley. Dick leaves behind his son Richard Moseley II and wife Ann Moseley, granddaughter Lily Montgomery, cousin Jerry Moseley, cousin Bob Moseley and wife Ellen Moseley and their children, Damon Miller MD and wife Morganne Marr and their children. Dick attended the University of Hawaii and graduated from Auburn University. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United Air Force. He completed pilot training in Arizona and was assigned to Tactical Air Command SAC in Rome, NY. Dick volunteered for Vietnam and was stationed at Dak To "Kontum Providence as a Forward Air Control (FAC) Pilot. He was later assigned to Patrick Air Force Base as a pilot flying in the KC 135 Unit in support of the Apollo Program. His unit brought back the "Moon Rocks" from the Apollo Mission to PAFB. Later on Dick was assigned as a Command pilot attached to the 960th AWACS stationed at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Then he was assigned as the Commander of the 963 AWACSS Base In Recvieck (SP?), Iceland. Dick retired as a Lieutenant Colonel at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia after 24 years of service. He was an avid photographer and leaves behind a legend in pictures. There will be a viewing on Saturday November 14, 2015 at noon in the Blount & Curry Funeral Home 605 S MacDill Avenue in Tampa, Florida. Richard (Dick) S. Moseley (Lieutenant Colonel retired) will be buried in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. at a date still yet to be determined.
