Eber, Richard (Dick) Steven, 61, passed on December 14,2014. He is survived by his loving family: wife Kathy, of Tampa; son Richie (Amy) Eber, of Seward, Nebraska; daughters Jenny Eber of Lutz, FL and Chrissy Eber of Jacksonville, FL; sister Sue Eber of Nanuet, NY and grandchildren Jolie and Nicholas Eber of Seward, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eleanor. Dick grew up and attended Tappan Zee High School in Orangeburg, New York. After graduating in 1971 he became a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. In 1987, he moved his family from New York to Tampa, Florida where he continued working for the United States Postal Service. Being an avid N.Y. Jets and N.Y. Yankees fan made him the ultimate sports enthusiast. Becoming knowledgeable in baseball gave him the inspiration to become a Little League and AAU Coach for 20 years. He then went on to become an assistant coach for his son Richie, head coach at Blake High School. Dick and his wife Kathy were instrumental in starting the Little League program in New Tampa. In honor of the countless hours coaching, the County of Hillsborough named the Little League field Eber Baseball Park. The most important part of Dicks' life was his family. His children were his pride and joy and the accomplishments they obtained as they became adults were his legacy. Dicks family and friends will miss him dearly. Dick was a member of AVAST (Amputee V.A. Support Team). A funeral service will be held 7:00pm at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Avenue, Tampa with the family receiving friends two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting all donations be made to this support group: AVAST:1631 Firewheel Drive, Wesley Chapel, Florida. 33543.
