This is a little late but I want to say how much Aunt Renee meant to me. I married into the Smith family and she was always so kind and welcoming to me. She was so gorgeous and glamorous and worldly and fun to be around. The world will be a little less sparkly without her because her  star in heaven will shine so brightly!


Renee was the best aunt that anyone could ever ask for.  

She was beautiful, smart, funny, independent and kind and for me, she was a wonderful role model.  She gave me my first job at Sears when I was 16 and inspired my love for retail.  Much later, when I was on a business trip in New York, she showed me the city, taking me to Central Park, Broadway and the World Trade Center.  

Aunt Renee showered the people she loved with love.  There was no one else like her, and her she will be greatly missed.


My aunt Renee was beautiful in every way. She is dearly loved by her family. She will remain in our hearts forever. Justine and Michael Terry.

I have so many found and beautiful memories of Honey.  She was one of the most giving and hospitable people I have know.  Family was everything to her and right from the start she considered my family her own.  Honey and dad (Bob) would regularly visit my grand father in Vero Beach.  They even took him on a cruise!  All my children loved going to granddad and Honey's house as well as having them visit here in Maryland. I remember both Honey and my dad freezing attending one of my son Kevin's fall baseball games.  She loved supporting you in what ever you did.  
One memory I value is when Honey supported me in staying home and raising/schooling my children.  My dad would often say how I gave up a good career and wasn't using my talents.  I guess one time was enough and Honey quickly and firmly spoke up and told him that staying home to raise a family is the most important job there is!   
People often say that you carry a piece of a loved one with you after they are gone.  I have come to realize that you do.  You carry on the examples they taught you and you pass that legacy down to your children.  Honey was an example of strength, grace, gentleness, kindness, and hospitality.  Family was her center and she had a way of making you feel special.  I will miss her dearly!

I was twelve years old when I met Renee. She and my mother, Charlotte Jenkins White, worked together at Sears and Roebuck. I thought Renee was lovely, so nice to me and, that her smile could light up any room.

Years later, I discovered that my next door neighbor, Ruth was Renee's sister and, we reconnected ... even taking tennis lessons together.

Throughout the years, I've enjoyed many occasions together with Renee ... and then later, Renee and Bob ... including joining them on a cruise with Ruth.

I will always remember her fondly and treasure our times together.

Renee was certainly a "joy" long before she became a "Joy" and, she will forever hold a special place in my heart.




Renee Margaret Anderson was the third child of Francis (Frank) and Ruth Ellis Anderson.  I was the fourth child born three years after Renee.  We had two older brothers, Bobby and Dennis.  My sister and I shared a very special bond.  We were separated physically during our lives but our bond with our siblings remained strong
Our first separation was after our Mother's death in 1938; Renee went to live with paternal aunt and uncle, Frank and Olive Fulcher in Nyack, NY on the Hudson River.
Our Dad remarried in the early 1940's and shortly after that the family  was reunited and moved to Florida.  This was during WWII and our dad and brothers felt it their patriotic duty to defend their country and the three ended up in the US Navy.

This was a time of uncertainty and we grew up pretty fast.   Renee met and married Harry Hane and the fruit of that union was Diane and Harry Hane.  This she claimed was one of her greatest accomplishments.  Diane inherited many of Renee's talents and characteristics of compassion, generosity, loyalty and dedication.  These strong talents enabled Renee to achieve success in her forty-five year at Sears.  ( I must add here that brothers Bob and Dennis were also achievers, Bob as sports editor for the NY Daily News and Dennis , lieutenant in the NYFD).  Many hard working years were spent achieving those goals.

We shared many family gatherings for birthdays , weddings and just time together to share sister secrets.  After she met and married Bob Joy,  my husband, Don and I shared many of their train, plane, ship, and road trips.  On one cruise we were Greek royalty in beautiful togas.  Renee and Bob were a handsome couple and complemented one another in every way.

I will miss my sister very much, but knowing what a good life she had and that her journey was complete, i'm sure the angels have given her a warm welcome, so the memories we share must suffice until we meet again.  Rest in Peace my dear sister.




Honey, I already miss you so much.  You were such an inspiration to Michelle and I growing up. You were the strong, independent beauty that proved to us that we could accomplish whatever we set our hearts and minds to.  I can think of no other person that gave more of themselves than you.  Whether it be love, or having fun, or telling us what need to hear, you never held back and for that I will always be grateful. We always joked about how I inherited my sweet tooth from you (though you always carried it much better than I haha), but I like to think I also inherited your fiery spirit and love for seeing the world. There will only ever be one Renee "Honey" Joy and what a blessing it was that you were ours.  Thank you for being my Honey. I love you the most xoxo

I fell in love with you the moment I saw you and Mr.Joy come to the dining room. The love you two shared was so special and beautiful! I used to always call you my beautiful girl and you would just smile away at me. You would call me your granddaughter and it meant so much to me. I bought myself another bracelet the same one I gave you and I wear it everyday! You will be missed but you are forever in my heart! Give Mr.Joy and my dad  a big hug for me! Til we meet again! Love you lots! 

Renee was my aunt.  She was married to my mother's brother Harry Hane for many years.  I used to loved our family gatherings at their house on Euclid Ave.  We would dine with her "gold" flatware and my uncle used to sing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" over and over again at the holiday gatherings.  I remember going often to Sears Roebuck on Hillsborough Ave. where she worked.  Hadn't seen her or my cousins Diane and Harry in many years and am very sad about that.  So sad to see there is no info about her life in this obituary and no messages from family/friends.  Loved you Aunt Renee!

Renee is survived by her children Diane Cornwell (Jim), Harry K. Hane (Janet), stepchildren Michael Joy (Cathy), Holly Brown (Charlie), Dana Ashton (Danny), sister Ruth Eleson, grandchildren Michelle Bremer (Jeff), Casey Hane (Stephanie), Lindsay Canady (Ryan), Aubrie Dunlap (Derek), Zachary Hane, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
