Rene Rodriguez

October 2, 1930 - May 19, 2024

René was born on October 2, 1930, in Central Baragua, Ciego de Avila, Camagüey, Cuba. He was raised on a farm with his 11 siblings. Rene would continue to plant throughout his life. He moved to La Habana, Cuba as a young man. René was adventurous and courageous, evidenced by his emigration to New Jersey, USA, in early 1960. He was a hard-working man, the kind that you hear about as “grit and grind” today. He was energetic til his last breath. He loved his family, friends, community and playing dominoes. One could count on the garage door being open and René always having something to drink and eat to offer, because anyone and everyone was welcomed. René was a proud American Citizen of the United States of America who loved to travel worldwide. He will be missed by so many.

René is predeceased by his loving and loyal wife of 56 years, Esther Toribio Rodriguez. He is survived by his only child, Alice Rodriguez Brockwell, and two grandsons, Jon Paul Brockwell, Jr. and Joseph Paul Brockwell.

René nació el 2 de Octubre de 1930 en Central Baraguá, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Cuba. Fue criado en una finca con sus 11 hermanos. René continuaría sembrando a lo largo de su vida. Se mudó a La Habana, Cuba, siendo joven. René era aventurero y valiente, lo cual se evidenció en su emigración a Nueva Jersey, USA., a principios de 1960.

Era un hombre trabajador, del tipo que hoy en día se describe como "determinación y esfuerzo". Fue enérgico hasta su último aliento. Amaba a su familia, amigos, comunidad y jugar dominó. Se podía contar con que la puerta del garaje estuviera abierta y René siempre tenía algo de beber y comer para ofrecer, porque todos eran bienvenidos. René era un orgulloso Ciudadano Estadounidense que amaba viajar por el mundo. Será extrañado por muchos. René fue precedido en la muerte por su amorosa y leal esposa durante 56 años, Esther Toribio Rodriguez. Le sobreviven su única hija, Alice Rodriguez Brockwell, y dos nietos, Jon Paul Brockwell, Jr. y Joseph Paul Brockwell.
