Raymond Pruitt Sr.

Mr. Raymond Pruitt, Sr. ”Nappy Chin-LJ” 85, was born on April 7, 1931 in Meridian, Mississippi to the union of Otis and Queen Esther Pruitt. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1952 Raymond was blessed with (5) sons and (1) daughter. He worked for Florida Steel Corp and local Union #1207 where he retired from. His memories will forever and always be embraced by his family, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Queen Esther Pruitt and stepmother Rosa Curry Pruitt; wife, Hattie Mae Pruitt; (3) sons, Raymond, Ronald and Adolpus Pruitt all of Tampa, Florida; (3) brothers, Otis Pruitt, Jr., Leroy Pruitt and LJ Curry; sister, Betty Pruitt Dyess. He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Donald Pruitt of Meridian, Mississippi and Kelvin Pruitt (Loretha) of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Debra Sherman Dabney of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Dorothy Pruitt Clark of Kirkwood, Missouri and Elouise Pruitt of Meridian, Mississippi; brother in law, Robert Wade of Jackson, Mississippi; sisters in law, Diane Pruitt of Baltimore, Maryland and Eunice Hearn of Los Angeles, California. A host of grandchildren whom are; Cassandra Brown, Katisha L. Butler (Keith), Sherika Pruitt, Marcus Pruitt, Lashonda Knight, Perys Pruitt, Karawn Pruitt, Ranita Knight, Kaishawn Pruitt Darnell (Bubba) Stephenson, Norma Pruitt, Nadia Pruitt, Mckayla Pruitt, Kelvin Pruitt, Jr., Raymond Pruitt, Briana Pruitt, Perys Pruitt, Nyree Pruitt all of Tampa, Florida, Donte Pruitt of Attapulgus, Georgia; great grandchildren, Janisha, Demario, Anthony, An Quan, Yosef, Kaleb, Haven, Raniya; Devoted nieces, Diane Nicholson, Irene Hearn, Renee Perry (Bradford); Dear friends, Wilbert Long, Brent Jenkins, Loretta Sanders all of Tampa, Florida and Danny Norman of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 12:30pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL. Repast following services at 3502 N. 34th Street Tampa, Florida 33610. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 6-8pm at Garden of Memories Funeral Home.
