Raymond “Ray” B. Boyle, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to Heaven on September 23, 2017. He will be deeply missed by his children – Ellen (Barry) Brayton, Richard (Karen) Boyle, Kathryn (Scott) Mesick and Holly Boyle; his grandchildren – Patrick and Jacob Schelah, Megan and Cassidy Boyle, Lauren (Chris) Kozak, Justin Mesick, Jeffrey, Derrick and Sirena Boyle, Brittany (Brian) Whitbeck, Dylan Butler; his great-grandchildren – Landon Whitbeck and Gavin Kozak; wife, Dorothy Boyle; along with numerous other relatives that loved him. Ray was born on April 5, 1932 in New Rochelle, NY to James and Mary Ellen Boyle. He attended Blessed Sacrament High School. He was a graduate of Iona College where he was a star pitcher for their varsity baseball team. He served our country in the US Navy. Ray was a district manager for Thomas J. Lipton Company for 35 years. On April 27, 1957, Ray married the love of his life Alberta “Bertie” (Hanson) Boyle. The two of them created a loving home on Buttonwood Avenue in Cortlandt Manor, NY where they raised their four children (Raymond, Ellen, Richard and Kathryn). They were happily married for 36 years. After Bertie’s passing, Ray moved from Naples to Palm Coast, FL where he met Dorothy Rushton. They got married on August 9, 1997. Ray and Dorothy enjoyed living in Florida and Delaware. God blessed this family with this amazing man. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Family meant everything to him. Ray was the strength of our family with his undying love, endless support and inspiring faith. His quick wit was his signature characteristic. Times spent with “Honest Ray” were always filled with lots of laughter and great stories. He was an avid golfer who felt at ease on the golf course showing up all the young ins with his natural talent. Ray’s sweet tooth warranted many trips to ice cream venues and bakeries. Everyone who knew Ray has been positively influenced by his humorous, fun-loving, humble spirit. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta “Bertie” Boyle, his son, Raymond B. Boyle Jr., his parents, James & Mary Ellen Boyle, his brothers and sister-in-laws, Vincent (Virginia) Boyle and James (Anne) Boyle, his son-in-law, Stanley Schelah. A Celebration of Ray’s Life mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 1969 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 11:15 am.
