Ramji Padamshi Shah, 82, of Tampa Florida, passed away on May 21, 2022. He was born November 20, 1939 in Patri, Kutch, India to the late Padamshi Bhulla Kakka and Monghiben Velji Padamshi Dharod. He attended secondary school at the Hirji Ghelabhai Savla Vidyalaya in Matunga, Bombay, India and the University of Bombay’s Sir JJ College of Architecture, achieving a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1962. He practiced architecture for over five decades, working his way up from Draughtsman to Architect, and moving from Bombay, India to London, England to Newfoundland, Canada and then Nova Scotia, Canada and finally to many cities in the United States. His work focused primarily on planning, design, and execution of large-scale hospital and other complex public works projects.
He lived simply, enjoyed helping people and making strangers into friends. Ramji liked playing card games, sometimes staying up all night to finish a game! He also liked to visit tourist destinations and the beach. He was the life of the party. His infectious laughter will be missed.
He was married twice: in 1967 to Shanti Shah, and 1985 to Janet Lucas. Ramji leaves behind two beloved children, Vishant Shah of Memphis, Tennessee, and Suvarna Shah of Tampa, Florida, and one adored grandchild, Sahil Shortridge of Memphis, Tennessee.
Ramji had 3 brothers and 1 sister; Vishanji Padamshi Kakka lives in Mumbai, India. Ratilal Padamshi Kakka, Bhanuben Meghji Gala, and Veerchand Padamshi Kakka preceded him in death.
Family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or to the charity of your choice, and they welcome any memories of Ramji that you would like to share.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services are being conducted by the caring staff at Blount and Curry Funeral Home.
